Guns, toys, what’s the difference?

As long as the photo-op scares you

Ahead of G20, Toronto police display “weapons” confiscated from protesters. Trouble is, most weren’t taken from protesters. And some were taken from role-playing fantasy gamers.

Of course, police and the press like to parade around toys and claim they’re weapons all the time. Particularly, airsoft toys.

Wait, did they go around and take them off sleeping protesters who were wore out from smashing windows and burning police cars? Or maybe the protesters dropped them? It certainly wasn’t from the police actually, you know, doing police work.

  2. DirtCrashr Says:

What’s with the gas-mask fetish? Are they just a bunch of innocent RPG’ers playing Fallout or something?

  3. Sigivald Says:

Dirt: The gas masks appear (from my quick read of the article) to be actual protester equipment. Very useful if you want to keep rioting through the tear gas or pepper spray, I suppose.

All in all, a cheesy display from the Toronto PD, though.

  4. SPQR Says:

The display was a dishonest attempt by the Toronto PD to distract attention from their incompetence in dealing with the protestors.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
