And their vote counts just as much as yours

Tennesseans don’t know who’s running for governor:

73 percent of Tennessee adults can’t name a single gubernatorial candidate when asked to list as many as they can recall.

But they do know the participants, finalists, etc. in American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and the Biggest Losers.

Well with the television shows they know what they are getting. With a politician you can never quite tell.

    It does when they vote.

Personally, I don’t fret over low turnout anymore.

Don’t they know that Bill Haslam picked up a lot of trash, stocked a lot of coolers? Turning Knoxville into a strong city again?

It’s not just Tennessee, and on the state level. Except for Obama being a pop idol, most don’t usually know who the current president is, or can name the immediate past office holder. Schools no longer require students to pass civic classes, and the result is a generation who often knows little, if anything concerning the political process and how it has evolved. Combined with the accepted influence of entertainers and other celebrities as political experts to be relied upon for guidance, our populace, unfortunately, for the most part, has gotten what they deserve. For those who care enough to educate themselves, it’s often a frustrating, uphill battle to staff the elected offices with those who they believe deserve the position, based upon knowledge, not emotion.

We’re moving to TN this year – do we have to pass the test before we can get in?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
