Settle up
You’d think with all the cases of people open carrying, getting arrested, then winning the case in court that maybe someone would start educating the police in certain locales about the laws and such. That way they could avoid paying settlements for false arrests.

The police chiefs and Mayors do not care.
They still want their cops harassing people for OC. They will only stop when enough people do it to seriously effect budgets.
Might need to use the old IWW approach … have OC supporters from all over the US arrive in town to try to get arrested.

You’d be right if THEY were actually paying.
But they’re not; taxpayers are.

The settlement amounts need to be seriously ratched UP and the training requirements and penalties for future law-breaking by the police attached. Requiring commissions to be revoked would make the deal stick as well.
I think this ought to be a cash cow for gun rights folks. We ought to be making a serious push to make these cases on every entity that will bite in every state.

Robert, what Mariner said. “The city” doesn’t pay these settlements, the taxpayers do.
