Even more on gun sales

Anecdotal but I was talking to a friend of mine this morning. He went to Wal-Mart this weekend to get some ammo. Trouble was that they were completely out of stock. He asked the guy at the counter if they were going to stop carrying it or something. The guy said they were still selling it but it was selling so fast they couldn’t keep it on the shelf. The guy at the counter said that one guy came in and bought $600 worth and another guy came in and bought $400 in the same day.

News Flash – as long as Wal Mart can sell an item so fast it can’t keep it on the shelves . . . . They will continue to sell the item.

Regardless of whatever political pressure they are under.

Really – the Wal-Mart near me doesn’t carry guns (never has), but they usually have a good stock of ammo. After the election, some things (like .223 and 00 Buck) sold out – but they keep getting in more stock, and they haven’t raised priced appreciably – I think they intend to stay in the business as long as they can.

Tuesday we almost hit fifty transactions. That’s *that day*, and since a transaction means a single customer, that’s fifty people with nice new toys 🙂

I stopped at my local Sportsman’s Warehouse a couple of days ago to pick up some powder and primers for loading some ammo. Except for a few types of very specialized powder and some match primers the shelves were bare. The manager said they couldn’t stock it fast enough and people were buying components and hoarding them against the chance of new and improved laws limiting guns and ammo. With prices at levels two times as high as a year or so ago people are still buying like components will never be available again. Guess they are a little suspicious that The Messiah and his troops might not keep their word about gun control.

WalMart hasn’t figured out that they are selling at far below market price yet.

I need to go buy some more .30 Carbine before they get a clue.

I heard a story locally where someone went in to buy shotgun shells at our gunshop. I’m paraphrasing, but the coversation was something like this:

Customer: “Hey, where are your 12 gauge shotgun shells?”
    Clerk: “We don’t have any.”
Customer: “How do you not have any shotgun shells?”
Clerk: “Some guy came in and wrote a check for our entire stock.”
    Customer: *glazed look*

The Sportsmans Warehouse in Oklahoma City, on the bullet shelves, has far more empty space than boxes. They keep selling out of most powders and primers within a couple to a few days of getting some in. And they’re constantly low on ammo. Hell, Academy was out of most .22 ammo last time I was in.

Every shop in town that carries AR or AK models generally sells out of what they get within a couple of days.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
