Speaking of the NFRTR database

A new member.

Guess what I got just in time for Christmas:

That’s right, I got an Elf on the Shelf. And a new Gemtech Outback 2 suppressor (you know, for wayward elves).

The NFA process for me started in August. And the paperwork was probably sent from Coal Creek Armory in early September. So, three months.

Dude, the Elf on the Shelf thing ROCKS. When my girls start fighting, we just point to the elf and it all goes away.

However, he’s creepy looking and I’d be tempted to test the suppressor on it. Luckily I don’t have one.

Gives new meaning to “Silent Night”.

Excellent! I have an Outback II of my own, and have been extremely satisfied. I trust you will be as well.

Tip: if you’re going to be shooting from a 16″ barreled Ruger 10/22, I highly recommend Winchester Dynapoints. They’re inexpensive (priced more like bulk .22 than “subsonic”), subsonic out of a 16″ barrel, reliable (relative to other cheap .22 ammo), and surprisingly accurate. They work well out of my MkIII pistol as well.

Sweet, I have the same setup with an LWC instead of a Gemtech. I swap it out onto my 10/22 as well (threaded barrel from tactical solutions)

Let me tell you though, the P22 is going to shoot itself to pieces with the can on it. Suppressors increase blowback pressure and blow crud back into the gun a LOT, and the P22 will eventually die as mine did.

I recommend picking up a buckmark and a threaded barrel for it (Pac-Sol and others have them). It will function much more reliably and accurately.

    Chris, Thanks for the tip.

Five months to get a muffler? A common sense gun law if I ever saw one.

  7. mariner Says:

Perhaps a steady diet of low-powered ammo will at least slow the process, if not keep it from happening.

  8. Coal Creek Armory Says:

Good to see you’re enjoying it!

  9. Robert Says:

Five months is wimping out. I started in April and haven’t made it yet. The dealer says they are really busy.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
