Conversion

Political Write: I have been anti-gun all my life. When my sons were little, I wouldn’t allow them to ever own a toy gun. But events in the past few years have radically changed my views.

Nice! The comments to that piece are yet another great example of how to hold a rational discussion. Color me impressed.

Not entirely off-topic, my daughter has never had a toy gun and has accepted my explanation why: Guns are serious things, not toys, and when she is old enough I will buy her real ones and teach her how to shoot them.

(I have said before that she has a genuine WWII samurai sword and two replicas in her playroom and has always understood that they are not toys either.)

Nice that he/she changed her mind. I wonder how many people in his/her past life that felt ashamed or wrong to have a gun due to past anti gun feelings.

Well it is a shame that life is getting more dangerous with terrorist and suicidal maniacs that want to go out with a bang. I wonder about our society that seems to create more deranged people.

I know the lawlessness is increasing among young people and the increasing crime that occurs.

That increases the fear and the resolve to be armed.

Lately the changes in my neighborhood and groups of young men (10-20) walking down the street I have left the shotgun in the living room with a box of shells.

My German Shepard tied at the front barking her fool head off when I see these groups. I want to make sure they do not stray in to thinking that my house is easy to vandalize or to rob if that is what they are thinking.

We have a new neighbor a couple of houses up the street that has parties and twice these have gotten violent. My neighbor across the street is talking about getting a gun.

. Hopefully they will learn that when a party crasher races his car down the street into another parked at 2 am that a dozen neighbors are there instantly. We took that driver right out the window and held for the police. That was in 1 min after the crash. We watch what goes on.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
