Note to self

Self,

In the middle of the night when you’re not quite conscious and attempting to soothe a fussy baby with a bottle, a bottle of Similac looks an awful lot like a bottle of International Delight Chocolate Caramel Coffee Creamer.

well, hell, it’s not as if you’re feeding the kid anything that’s likely to hurt humans, so…

  2. nk Says:

Heh! I never poured the refrigerated breast milk into my coffee. Not that I remember, anyway.

  3. countertop Says:

We ran out of milk with my son’s ceral today. The freshly made bottles of Nestle Good Start (tried Similac and Enfamil with the first, so far we haven’t had to switch from Nestle with the second) looked awfully tempting after I poured a cup of java … but I resisted.

Good for you for using formula . . . pro breast nazis out there are working day and night to undercut the right to choose and shame women into giving up formula for minor 3rd world political points.

We use forumula – proudly – and 1) my wife’s breast are as supple and perky as the day I married her (well, a little bloated right now) and will stay that way and not droop anytime soon and 2) my kids like cold formula straight from the fridge. No need for a bottle warmer here.

Plus, they grow at a quick and more sustained rate, we know they are getting the nutrition they need (100% not the case with breast feeding), and are generally healthier and better natured than the average whiny breast fed baby.

  4. Alcibiades Says:

Does anyone really need to know that much about anyone’s wife’s breasts?

  5. Alcibiades Says:

My last sentence looks like crap. Let me rephrase it:

Do we really need to listen to someone wax poetic about the suppleness of his wife’s breasts? That may be outside the confines of good taste.

  6. David Says:

Hell, dude, I don’t mind it a bit. Who said we came here for good taste?

  7. countertop Says:

    Sorry Albibiades,

But the breast feeding nazi’s just get under my skin. They might be even worse than gun banning bigots (and lo and behold, look who’s holding their torch right now – Mike Blommberg who wants to ban forumla feeding in NYC)

plus, I love my wife’s breasts

  8. nk Says:

    Countertop,

My wife and I called them “the milk nazis”. She had already made up her mind that she would breast feed but they (three or four of them) still came around in the recovery room to give us their pitch. And you’re right that after six months you either switch to formula or give supplements. The main argument for breast feeding is acquiring immunity. In our case I think it worked. The first time my daughter needed antibiotics was when she was already four years old, for a strep-throat she got at pre-school.

  9. Alcibiades Says:

Well, I was somewhat joking. It was more of a rhetorical question meant to draw attention to countertop’s perverted mind.

Now, everyone can all laugh and dance in the mountains like in the Sound of Music
