SKS Mods

Chris has some with pics. He also, in reference to said SKS mods, notes How not to have your life ruined by the ATF. Good advice but it begs the question:

Has anyone ever been charged under USC 922(r)? I personally know of no one. It seems to me that proving parts were made in America or were not would be difficult.

My rule is no foreign parts go in. When I replaced all the wood on my Kalashnikov, I did it with parts that were milled in the US. I replaced my trigger with a US made trigger that has US stamped on each part. I keep all documentation so if it’s ever necessary, I can prove to the ATF the parts came from domestic sources. If you never put a foreign part in your rifle, then you don’t have to worry about 922r. Sometimes you can’t get around it, but I haven’t found too much in the way of parts that’s not available from domestic sources.

    Not true.

If you start replacing parts, (like say just replace the thumbhole stock), and you end up with an assembled gun that does not have enough USA made parts, you violate 922r

Dunno ’bout you, Unc, but I don’t want to be the test case…

I’ll leave my SKS stock, thanks…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
