Don’t they read this crap before it becomes law?
I have seen countless articles on the new overtime changes. What is missing from most of them is what the new changes actually do. Also, it seems our politicos who are making allegations about the rules don’t have much of an understanding of the new rules. The new rules weigh in at a massive 500 pages.
So, if I understand it correctly, the sky is falling but no one knows why.

The example people keep referring to is that hospitals will no longer be required to pay their nurses overtime. Since there’s already a shortage of nurses, a loss of overtime pay would mean a disincentive for nurses to work overtime. (In fact, it seems that the only way a nurse can make decent money is by working paid overtime).
Of course, it’s always possible the magical “market forces” will force health care companies to pay overtime anyway, or to pay substantially higher base salaries, even in the absence of a legal requirement that they do so.
