New Toy (but not for me)

We used to get those over-sized tennis balls, regular tennis balls, and the occasional basketball for Politically Incorrect Dog™. Problem is, he’d pop them pretty quick. The last leather basketball he got was popped in a record 5 minutes. So, I set out to find an indestructible ball. PetDiscounters offers this model:

Indestructible Dog Balls
The name says it all! These “Gorilla-Tough” balls are virtually indestructible and will not be will not be destroyed by your dog’s teeth & rough playing! Molded from safe, non-toxic polyethylene. They won’t tear, break, or burst open like many other dog toys. Easy screw plug allows 10″ balls to be filled with water, sand or gravel, which makes it ideal for working dogs or for dogs that need to build up a little more muscle. Great exercise for dogs of all sizes. Actual color of product may vary. Made in the U.S.A.

The Mrs. ordered one. I’ll let you know how it goes. If it gets destroyed, I guess I’ll just give him a tire or something.

Buster and two of his Lab friends absolutely demolished an old frisbee of mine.

I got a ball like this at Kroger, I am pretty sure. It was a yellow hunk of very hard plastic.

Although it’s not a ball, a toy called “KONG” is indestructible. It’s made of HARD rubber and is cone shaped. They come in various sizes and have yet to see one of my dogs destroy one, As a matter of fact when my larger dogs died, I gave it to my wife’s cousin who has 2 LARGE German Shepards, and the toy is in vary good shape after 3 years

Yeah, we got like 6 kongs that we fills with various treats. PID has destroyed a couple of them. Kongs are great though. They last a long time.

But they’re not fun to throw and chase, apparently.

I reckon if the indestructable ball don’t work out, you could always try a cinder block, or mebbe a Ford C6 transmission.

betcha PID wouldn’t be able to destroy those.

  6. SayUncle Says:

He has been known to chew on bricks so maybe the cinder block is a good idea.

Kong makes balls. We have two of them: a nice round one and a lumpy one, both tennis-ball sized. The whippet jaws are pretty amazing and they will work on something until they destroy it, no matter how long it takes. So far, no amount of chewing has harmed either ball. And they are great for fetch, but be careful… The size and weight of at least the round ball make it fly through the air a LONG way and it bounces really high, making the dog do some nice aerial maneuvers.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
