I’m still boycotting Pilot Oil

I said before that I was boycotting Pilot Oil due to Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam’s membership in an anti-gun group funded by the Joyce Foundation. I was pleased to have received correspondence from someone in the Mayor’s office offering to clarify the issue with me. I received that comment 11 days ago and awaited said follow up. But the follow up hasn’t happened yet. Now, I know their office was busy with allegations of racism and the holiday weekend and all. But I have yet to hear back. My offer still stands:

I responded via email and offered to re-print anything the mayor had to say without edit. I also asked if he’d answer question about the group.

My inclination on the issue is that Mr. Haslam joined the group not realizing exactly what they were. After all, there are some Republicans in it. But I’d like some clarification.

It’s no secret that Haslam has his eyes on higher office (though I doubt it’s this one) and this issue will haunt you in Tennessee.

Some folks have asked me what it would take to clear the air and my answer is I’d like to see him call the group what it is and quit it. Or call the group what it is and work from the inside to enact measures that will actually make a difference in gun crime. Gun control is what politicians do instead of something.

I’ll continue my boycott and encourage others to do the same until the mayor’s office addresses the issue.

Anyone dumb enough to belong to this group isn’t smart enough to be in the office they are in….much less higher office.

And it’s the 21st Century. Think quick. Move fast. Respond. They have taken too long to get back to you, no matter WHAT is going on. Let’s get up to speed guys.

Uncle, I have a bad feeling about this Haslam Bloomberg deal. Did anyone wonder about the Metro Pulse Editorial where there was this statement, “First he put himself at risk by drawing his weapon when he says he saw a gun come out of the young man’s pocket”. Isn’t that convenient cover for Mayor Haslam joining the Bloomberg gang?

What about what Don Bosch said yesterday on “Inside Tennessee”?

You can see a YouTube clip of it here.

All of the sudden there are local statements that guns are dangerous and experts say it is safer to wait for the police. Isn’t that very unusual timing considering the Lumpy Lambert and Tim Burchett events?

Isn’t it possible that Mayor Haslam joined the Bloomberg gang knowing full well what they stand for?

This whole getting “illegal guns” off the street is a smoke screen. Where there is smoke there is fire.

[…] and I have been observing the boycott of Pilot Oil, except for bathroom breaks.  I figure that costs them money for water and bathroom maintenance. […]

[…] mentioned before that I was boycotting Pilot Oil because Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam is a member of the Joyce Foundation-funded Mayors Against Guns. […]

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
