Diamond in the scruff

I mentioned the idiot that said civilian gun culture was dysfunctional and the po po and military guys were good because of training. Tam takes him to the woodshed:

As a matter of fact, Mike, I’m pretty comfortable making the statement that I probably expend more ammunition in any given month than you did in your entire seven year career, since you likely never busted a cap outside of required qualifications.

Another from those highly qualified because of training.

Don’t get upset fellow because you got smacked down by a girl. The truth is, she can probably beat most of us at the range.

I am a navy vet. Had one day with .22 Auto in boot camp.A day every year at range when we requalified with shotgun and .45 Auto. They did not let me shoot the m-!4 qual. I have since getting out of the navy spent more of my time and money at ranges and training classes than the Navy provided. Tam is spot on as usual.

During my 6 years in the USAF, as a Fire Protection Specialist, I had exactly 2 days of weapon training with the M-16A. And that was in Basic training. So having served in the Regular Armed Forces does NOT mean that one is a weapons expert.

However, I did get a lot of great weap training while serving as a Mech Infantryman in the California Army National Guard.

My older brother got to shoot an M16 for quals in basic training. Never again. When he had to serve MP guard duty he was given an unloaded carbine. They knew. He is now a highly trained range officer at his local gun range. An M.D. Still can’t get a ccw permit in his California county. My mom was trained as a reserve police officer in my home town when I was just a lad. In spite of the fact she had not shot a firearm since her youth on the farm she outscored every officer on the force on qualification day. .357 revolver. Most in military never shoot. Cops can’t.

BTW. Tam is a treasure. Good woman, excellent shootist and funny as f*ck. Oh, were I worthy.

Give that guy a break, he may even know about full semi-automatic and that makes him an expert…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
