Well, yeah

Chicago mob helped write city’s gun laws.

“The Outfit” ran everything in Chicago. The police. The politicos. The laundries. (So you want to run a fancy restaurant in Chicago? White table clothes and linen napkins? Guess who you did business with – at least back-in-the-day.)

A couple of years ago, the FBI ran “Operation Family Secrets” in another attempt to shut down The Outfit. They netted 2 or 3 suburban cops (running interference for an Outfit bomb-maker), a Marshal in Witness Security (talking to “an old family friend” while on duty guarding a witness in a mob trial) and almost no one else. They counted it a huge success when the funeral of one-time boss was poorly attended.

4 of the last 6 Illinois governors have done federal time for corruption/racketeering. (Though one was arrested for something he did AFTER he was governor.)

Look up Paul Powell for an eye-opening lesson in Illinois-style corruption. He died with 750,000 bucks – in cash – stashed in a closet. That was 1970, when 750K really meant something. Even when it was discovered, the fact was covered up for 2 or 3 months. Servant the people? Not hardly. Even though he spent his whole career in IL politics.

Same with New York’s Sullivan act. Same with most of the silly gun laws in the South if you want to elevate those booger-eating rednecks in the Klan to the status of an organized crime outfit, which if you look how they operate they sure are!

Well by definition of course, all attempts to violate human rights are conducted by criminals. So yeah.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
