TSA agent accidentally takes gun to work

In Memphis:

A Transportation Security Administration employee at Memphis International Airport was arrested by airport police Wednesday after he was accused of carrying a handgun into the main terminal building.

The gun was found during a security check at the terminal’s “A” concourse in a bag belonging to TSA employee Richard Banks III. He told airport police that he forgot the handgun, a 9mm Glock 17, was in the bag.

Dick Cheney on the Second Amendment

His book notes his departure from the Bush administration in the wake of gun control cases going to the supreme court. Bush usually played lip service to gunnies, and at one point said he supported the renewal of the ban on weapons that look like assault weapons. Of course, Cheney has speculated that maybe it’s ok to limit magazine capacity as well.

I have this old gun

Wal-Greens Pharmacist Update

Remember the guy who used his gun in self defense while working at Wal-Greens and who got fired? Now, he’s suing:

After he foiled a robbery by pulling a handgun out of his pocket, Benton Harbor pharmacist Jeremy Hoven said he was fired from his job at Walgreens.
Now, he’s fired back with a federal lawsuit against Walgreens alleging wrongful termination.

Oh don’t start

Friends in larger cities are telling me that there are fights over food at grocery stores in light of the hurricane. I hope those are isolated events.

If you’re prepared for the zombie apocalypse, a hurricane is just a storm.

NC Update

The governor does the right thing:

This order is adopted pursuant to my powers under Article 1 of Chapter 166A of the General Statutes and under Article 36A of Chapter 14 of the General Statutes. It does not trigger the limitations on weapons in G.S. § 14-288.7 or impose any limitation on the consumption, transportation, sale or purchase of alcoholic beverages.

on stopping power

A man and woman have a suicide pact over financial difficulties. The man shoots his wife in the back of the head. Then shoots himself. He then drives them both three miles to the police station where the police note:

“At first, when they said they wanted to report that they’d attempted suicide, we thought they had used sleeping pills or something along those lines,” Phillips said. “They were walking and talking, and they were in distress but not overly in distress.”

Wounds were not life-threatening.

I have to wonder what the weapon was in this case.
