More on that Nassau County gun shop raid

Mentioned a bit back about the shop owner who was arrested for showing a patron that if he pulled the pin out of the stock, that’d be illegal. Long Island Lawyer has the scoop on the case. Looks like this guy has been the victim of cops behaving badly in the past:

According to Tretola, in March 2006, Tretola received a telephone call from a Police Officer Faltings from the NCPD. Officer Faltings ordered Tretola to turn over possession of a particular firearm to a friend of Officer Faltings without the purchase documents for that particular weapon. Tretola denied Officer Falting’s request, at which point Officer Faltings allegedly responded “Do you know who I am? I am the head of the Pistol Licensing Bureau of Nassau County.”. Tretola responded in words or substance that “I do not care who you are or what you are. What you are asking of me is against the law and I will not do it.”

He’s suing the county for that incident, which makes the timing of this silly raid rather convenient.

There is no such thing as a coincidence.

    F’n Only Ones. Grr.

  2. Jeff Says:

Don’t confuse contempt of cop with contempt of douchebag. This guy wasn’t operating anywhere close to the boundaries of his police powers during the first incident. The sting shouldn’t make it past a motions hearing if it even makes it that far

Having been in business for over 30 years, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard some version of “Don’t you know who I am…?” but it’s been a hell of a lot.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
