Layers of editorial oversight

Remember when the press was all ga-ga over AK-15s? Now, someone is smuggling AR-47s into Mexico:

In the back of the vehicle they found 16 weapons. Ten AR-15’s which is the type of rifle our officers use. 5 AR 47s and high caliber handguns and our understanding was that the weapons were going to be taken into Mexico.”

Yeah, I know. But that’s not what they’re showing at the story.

The media loves to tack on those qualifiers, don’t they?

A handgun has to be “high” caliber, a rifle “high” power, or automatic, or armor piercing. There is nothing more worn than a journalist’s thesaurus.

    High powered weapons, my ass.

Well of course! Uh, the AR stands for “Assault Rifle” right?

  6. Robert Says:

I didn’t know they were searching BATFE vehicles!

“AR-47” I had to think about for a second, you know Stoner created a lot of cool stuff that didn’t get as popular as the AR-15…

The reporters did a better job with the television broadcast story. They called everything by it’s correct name. Truth be told it actually sounds like law enforcement caught a bad man who was also helping in getting illegals into the country. This being the case I’ll give them the typo this time around.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
