Gun club caves to Olbermann?

What are these idiots thinking:

Let’s pretend you are a member of a gun club. Keith Olbermann attacks you because you’re going to allow right-of-center folks to come to your shooting range to shoot guns & very possibly say less than pleasant things about far left policies & socialism. Why would you cave to Keith Olbermann? He’s not your friend. He doesn’t even believe in the Second Amendment and declared SCOTUS Justice Antonin Scalia as the “Worst Person in the World” for writing the Heller opinion.

Apparently, if you’re on the board of Elstonville Sportsmen’s Association, you vote to cave to Keith Olbermann. Really?

Sounds like they took advise from the NRA…

    Meant advice.

  3. Guav Says:

Or maybe they—like many businesses—want to remain apolitical, non-partisan and neutral.

Also, it’s not the best political climate right now to be [literally] shooting at things related to the administration. Scares the White People™ …

Probably a smart decision on their part.

  4. SayUncle Says:

Could be. Except that it’s Olbermann, who is oppositional to the right to arms. I’d tell him to FO.

  5. chris Says:

The Black Panthers can stand outside polling places armed and the DOJ not worry about its impact on the election process.

So why should anyone care about a little target practice?

This seems like good clean fun.

  6. Bitter Says:

You might also want to do a little more digging before coming to such conclusions, Guav. They are hosting a partisan fundraiser the following week, and are now lying about use of their club for political purposes. They specifically caved to Olbermann and a gubernatorial candidate (who is losing badly) who has endorsed more radical gun control than even the Brady Campaign will push here in Pennsylvania.

    Oh snap!

  8. RML Says:

Sun tea sized tea bags make great targets when taped over a shoot n see.

    Uncle
It’s not about Olbermann per se—I doubt if he called them and expressed his concerns privately that they would have dropped it, it’s the national public attention they didn’t like. They may not care what he thinks, but they probably care about what his thousands or millions of viewers think. Just bad publicity.

    Bitter
Fair enough, it’s not the partisan nature of the event, probably just the fact that there were going to be people shooting guns at the administration [symbolically]. That’s one step away from burning Obama in effigy, and like I said, it Scares The White People™—the average American does not actually think stuff like that is entertaining or in good taste.

The way to win this fight is to move gun ownership and gun rights away from the left/right, liberal/conservative thing it’s turned into, and make it be seen as a normal American thing again. Acting like the conservative version of the A.N.S.W.E.R. dirty fucking hippies of 2003 would perpetuate negative stereotypes about gun owners in general, and that’s not good for us as gun owners/advocates.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
