    Mr. Gura is the man.

  2. Don Gwinn, Chicago Gun Rights Examiner Says:

    Yup, wrote about it too:

My guess is that Daley’s blood pressure is on a roller coaster by now. This week has been nuts; first President Obama agrees to fly to Denmark to get them to give Daley his Olympics, despite the near-open-revolt against the idea in Chicago itself . . . but now the Supreme Court is stepping in, and he can’t find a legal expert (other than the ones whose salaries he pays out of his budget) who can give him much hope that they aren’t going to kick his knees out from under him.

  3. RAH Says:

Helmke is depending on the fig leaf of “reasonable regulations” that Scalia gave. Since that applied to disallowing violent felons That is not a very big fig leaf.

More and more the argument has been one that decent law abiding people have to be trusted in carrying guns.

I do not expect that the big cities crime numbers will fall once incorporation is settled, but at least the citizens have a chance.

  4. m4finny Says:

First test for the wise Latina woman who knows better ….. I wonder if that includes Daley? He’s a white old fart.

  5. DeadCenter56 Says:

It’s gonna be a real tough argument for them to deny state incorporation for an amendment that DOESN’T mention ‘Congress’ in it’s restriction when they’ve already ‘incorporated’ the 1st. The legal gymnastics should be an interesting read. I guess they ought to also consider the response of the free citizens in this country to being told that the Constitution really IS just a piece of toilet paper…

  6. Wolfwood Says:

[insert angry Threeper comment about the bootlicking inherent in litigating over the Constitution and the superiority of armed insurrection here]

  7. DirtCrashr Says:

I have confidence in Alan, but fear of Chicago. Both criminals and “authorities” are totally out of control there.

  8. Yu-Ain Gonnano Says:

    Wolf: Heh

    DirtCrashr: There’s a difference?

  9. Tom Says:

    {insert prag/fudd comment about how it’s OK for “reasonable restrictions” since it won’t impact my John Kerry photo op o/u shotgun on hunting rifle that I registered and sought permission from those I employ to possess}

Never mind the “common use” circular logic language in Heller that eviscerated any real challenge to nfa items to the people without gov approval and anal probes.

Never mind the case that appears to stand that a couple sticks and a rope are a deadly weapon and if possessed in the wrong place you will lose your right to own that “allowed” gun for life.

  10. Kevin Baker Says:

Tom? We’re not going to get everything back in one fell swoop, no matter how many of you threaten to hold your breath until you turn blue. Not going to happen. Too many of our fellow citizens – including too many gun owners – believe that private citizens shouldn’t possess full-auto and other NFA weapons, with or without the legal hurdles set by the NFA. Only through re-normalization of the good gun culture will that EVER happen.

    (Really, why do I bother?)

  11. Tomcatshanger Says:

Kevin, too many of our fellow citizens either believe machineguns are already all the way illegal, or believe the assault weapon ban is what made them illegal in the first place.

  12. Yu-Ain Gonnano Says:

    Exactly.

It’s like getting fat. You didn’t get fat in one week and you won’t lose it all in one week. Being happy with the 5 pounds you did lose doesn’t mean you’re satisfied with keeping the 45 pounds you didn’t lose.

Heller got us recognition of the 2A being an individual right.

    McDonald will get us incorporation.

I imagine next will be the TN and MT firearms freedom acts challenging federal encroachment.

And then there’ll be something after that, too.

Doesn’t appear to be much of a call for “We got all we want, no further” to me.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
