Pelosi wants registration

On Good Morning America:

And we are just going to have to work together to come to some resolution because the court, in the meantime, in recent months, the Supreme Court has ruled in a very- in a direction that gives more opportunity for people to have guns. We never denied that right. We don’t want to take their guns away. We want them registered. We don’t want them crossing state lines

First of all, you have denied that right. Next, you do want to take guns away. Anything used to justify registration can be accomplished through other means and all registration does is make a list of gun owners. And you don’t want guns crossing state lines? That’s a new one. What about people who hunt or participate in competition out of state?

No thanks.

Isn’t that all that California wanted as well? What happens when they change their minds and hire anti-gun advocates to go through the lists determining who’s no longer allowed to own guns? Like CA did w/ Wintemute.

Do you have a resource page – or can you point to one – that shows the merits of all the various alternatives to registration for accomplishing the same purposes?

  3. SayUncle Says:

Brian Doherty’s book Gun Control on Trial: Inside the Supreme Court Battle Over the Second Amendment does a good job highlighting it.

Thanks – I’ll try to find it.

Seems dangerous to explain why they shouldn’t trample our human rights. I prefer a stern “NO”. These people are animals, you have to be stern with them or they’ll piss all over us.

Trying to parse Pelosi’s statements to make sense of them is a futile endeavor, akin to looking in a manure pile for fresh hay to feed your horse.

I agree that the proper response to her basic argument, that “the government will restrict firearms to promote public safety” needs to be met and refuted with our strongest argument, “Self defense is an inalienable human right, a civil right, and we will never allow our elected representatives to take it away from us. So stop trying.” Then she can argue that she is not trying to take away our human rights, and we can laugh at her.

  7. Matt Groom Says:

I’m already registered to own guns.

I have a social security number.

I write it down every time I fill out a 4473.

Which guns do I own? All of them.
Which ones are dangerous if misused? All of them.
Which guns will they try to confiscate if they get specific serial numbers? ALL OF THEM.

Which ones will they get? NONE OF THEM.

  8. Matt Groom Says:

Opps. I should have put “Which guns am I registered to own?”

I don’t own your guns, nor do I want to have to clean them.

  9. Kirk Parker Says:

Matt, regarding you #8: now I can stop envying you!

  10. ATLien Says:

well, matt, then that’s your own problem, because putting your SS# on the form is not required. you only have yourself to blame.

  11. Joe Huffman Says:

Compromise with the gun grabbers on registration is like a rapist trying to reach a compromise with my daughter. You don’t want to do that while I’m armed and watching.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
