Bloomberg reports easing restrictions on Cuba could been importation of their cigars.
Humphrey reports the bill to close records of handgun permit holders failed to pass the senate.
A bit back, everyone noted the video of the photographer down range during a shoot and how dumb that seemed. Well, someone offers a defense of that:
Tactical response runs a 360* hot range. Period. Follow the four rules and you’re good. None of those rules were violated in the video. I challenge anyone to point one out that was.
Ya know, even at a 360 range, I still prefer standing in the opposite direction of where bullets are going.
Well, maybe. Reportedly, she’s made two contradictory statements.
“Clearly she spoke to the fact that settled law is just that, and the Heller case has been considered by the court, and she sees that as the law, and she will work off of what the court decided as other cases may come to the court’s attention,” Udall said.
DeMint also questioned Sotomayor about gun rights in a meeting earlier this week, and later criticized her for refusing to say the Second Amendment “protects a fundamental right that applies to all Americans.” He said Sotomayor’s statement on Heller “doesn’t tell us much” about her view of the issue given the position she took this year in Maloney.
The intern for a Democrat that apparently thought no one in is his address book had seen various internet memes got fired.
BTW, be careful with this internet thingy. It’s serious business. You can ruin people’s lives.
Update: Apparently, critical thinking is not the only thing Jeff Woods gets wrong. He was not fired:
Director of Legislative Administration Connie Ridley tells Post Politics that Graves was not fired or dismissed.
People were pointing out he was a Republican but they probably got that wrong too.
State employee sent racist email. Much hullabaloo about GOP being racist. Now, it’s the Democrat’s turn. Christian has some details on who it’s associated with.

TN restaurant owner is having a contest to come up with a sign that welcomes handgun carry permit holders.
Everyone is all ga-ga over how social media is enabling those in Iran to stand up for themselves. The pictures are amazing. People are throwing rocks at snipers. And the mullahs can’t stop the signal. The trouble for the citizens is that they will be crushed when the government decides it has had enough. That is happening now.
I wish them the best. But, more so, I wish they had rifles.

Tom Humphrey says the bill is on hold. Meanwhile, NewsChannel 5 Investigates (and by investigates, they mean makes stuff up) says that the TFA has changed its mind on the bill, and refers to them as the gun industry. Trouble is, they’re lying.
Faced with the potential loss of 300 deputies due to budget cuts, the Sacramento County sheriff may consider issuing more concealed weapons permits.
Sacramento County Sheriff John McGinness said at a public budget workshop in May that if the cuts happen, people would wait “long, long periods of time for the most basic public safety services, specifically uniformed officers in the field.”
In California, permits are entirely discretionary and usually tied to political connections.
The American Hunters and Shooters Association stops pretending and gets their hackery on.

restaurant carry passes in AZ.
Some interesting political maneuvering:
NRA informs us that Senator Jack Harper voted against his own bill in order to save it from being killed, which allowed it to be brought back up for consideration today.
Sullum: Sotomayor’s conclusion does not necessarily signal an anti-gun bias.
But I’d say it’s a pretty good guess.
Junior loves the show Fairly Odd Parents. Tonight’s episode contained this gem:
Timmy Turner: You mean, you’d let an unsupervised minor go on dangerous missions without worrying about his safety
Adult (handing him a gun): not without a really dangerous weapon.
Heh.
So, if I understand this correctly, Ahmadinejad is a right-winger because he supports right-wing ideas like wealth redistribution and class-resentment?
Folks kicked around idea of local municipalities banning weapons in restaurants. Someone asked the TN Attorney General. He says no:
No. While municipalities have broad discretion to regulate the sale of beer through the permit process as described in Tenn. Code Ann. § 57-5-106, a local ordinance banning “any person” other than on-duty law enforcement officers from possessing a firearm in an establishment with an on-premises beer permit is not the regulation of the sale of beer, but rather is a local regulation pertaining to the possession of firearms and is therefore prohibited by Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-17-1314(a).
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
