Good

A man shoots a police officer. The man is then shot by a man carrying a gun.

Gun laws you would change

JT has some thoughts. Geography tends to influence people’s choices on this one.

You caliber sucks

And so does mine. And so does your gun. And mine. There’s enough internet for today

I wouldn’t say the 45ACP sucks. But I do agree that it is likely the least advantageous of the major carry calibers:

They took our jobs

This time, Tennessee is getting some California jobs:

A supplier to the Italian gunmaker Beretta is leaving San Diego and relocating its headquarters near Beretta’s new U.S. manufacturing plant in Gallatin, northeast of Nashville.

The deal exemplifies the type of ripple-effect economic developers strive for when recruiting major companies, as Gallatin did with Beretta, which invested $45 million to open a plant that can produce 500,000 firearms a year at capacity and employ 300 people or more.

The company is Axem Distributing Inc.

Speaking of journalism and guns being boring

The Paper of Making Up The Record has a bit where they poll “experts” and the electorate on what gun controls they would be happy with. Surprising no one, they discovered most people support all the gun control. As to their supposed experts:

Our expert survey asked dozens of social scientists, lawyers and public health officials how effective each of 29 policies would be in reducing firearm homicide deaths, regardless of their political feasibility or cost.

Did you think maybe try a gun or gun law expert? You know, someone who really is an expert in this field?

Interesting new suppressor design

Delta P Design Brevis II Ultra Silencer: It’s one piece and is short and fat. I’m curious about the internals of this thing.

I do wonder how you could clean it.

True

One problem with journalist and democrat (but I repeat myself) arguments for gun control is that they are boring.

First a twinkie

Now, a pineapple as a suppressor.

Can they make the bullet trail look like a rainbow too?

In what apparently is not a joke, the US Army is asking for biodegradable ammo that has seeds in it to grow plants. I suppose when you’re out there shooting people in the face for a living, it’s good to be environmentally conscious.

The request is for grenades and tank rounds. This may actually be a decent idea but I question their priorities.

Hearing protection act introduced

The American Suppressor Association:

The American Suppressor Association (ASA) is pleased to announce the reintroduction of the Hearing Protection Act (HPA) by Rep. Jeff Duncan (SC-03) and Rep. John Carter (TX-31). This historic piece of legislation, which was originally introduced by Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) in the 114th Congress, will remove suppressors from the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA), replacing the antiquated federal transfer process with an instantaneous NICS background check. The HPA also includes a provision to refund the $200 transfer tax to applicants who purchase a suppressor after October 22, 2015, which was the original date of introduction.

The hysteria is already starting from the democrats and the press (but I repeat myself).

Sebastian has a post on making the case for the bill. You know, there are rules about the noise level a person can be subjected to while on the job. And this is for the safety of the workers. Suppressors fit the bill for that. And I’d like to see a suppressor only indoor range.

What gun laws would you change?

Well, which ones wouldn’t you?

You shouldn’t have worn that dress

Twinkie as firearm silencer

Would the Twinkie require a tax stamp?

If they are right, why lie?

The Brady Campaign to Make Sweet, Sweet Non-Profit Money said over 200 people were shot the first day of the year. Only, they lied about it.

How Not To Get Killed at the Airport.

I’ve mentioned before that I carry some things that can by used as weapons when flying. I like the padlock idea as TSA restrictions no longer allow me to carry certain sizes of hygiene products. Some good suggestions there. I also recommend a few zip ties in case, well, you know, you crack someone upside the head and they needs restrained after.

I have no problem with this

Gun silencers are hard to buy. Donald Trump Jr. and silencer makers want to change that.

Feds taking gun case to supreme court?

Looks like the feds weren’t happy with the Binderup decision. This is the case challenging making those convicted of a crime punishable by a year or more in jail being barred from gun ownership. Lots of stuff at the link.

The Hudson H9

Hudson Manufacturing has released a new gun with a new design. The concept being to take all the good stuff people like about 1911s (trigger and grip angle) and the good stuff people like about Glocks (everything else) and mashing them together to make one good one. With a low bore access (at first I thought that was a laser or some such):

Price seems a little high for the target market. I’d like to get my hands on one to play with.

California DOJ Inadvertently Discloses Personal Information of Firearm Safety Instructors

NRA-ILA:

Last week, the California Department of Justice (DOJ) Privacy Office began mailing letters like this one to certified Firearm Safety Instructors. The letter states that on October 14, 2016, DOJ inadvertently disclosed the name, date of birth, and California Drivers License and/or Identification Card numbers of potentially every single DOJ certified Firearm Safety Instructor in California to an unknown requestor. DOJ allegedly discovered the breach on October 27well over two months agobut is just now notifying individuals.
