The American Hunters and Shooters Association has endorsed Barack Obama.
Of course they did. That’s what they were created for.
Some say the party is over:
Breaking up is so hard to do. Judging from the Democratic Party platform, remarks from presidential nominee Barack Obama and his selection of anti-gun Sen. Joseph Biden as a running mate, the long, transparent courtship of gun owners by Democrats is over and instead of a goodbye kiss, there was a slap in the face; the political approximation of a domestic assault.
I dunno. I think it’s more a regional issue. Time will tell.
Guy doesn’t break the law and will not be charged. Guns not returned.
Have you ever spent more on the optics than on the gun?
Well, I do have a Ruger 10/22 with an EOTech on it.
Once again, wordpress ate my categories.
You win this round, readership. You have your monkey.
At least five of you have emailed to say you miss the monkey.
Working on changing the hyperlink color since it strains peoples’ eyeballs.
And the mouseover hyperlink effect is on its way out too.
The new design loads nice on the crackberry in that the content loads first as opposed to sidebars.
Anything else?
Update: Better?
The Brady Campaign can’t win when the truth is told. So, they lie:
Among other things, it would allow people to carry loaded assault weapons on city streets. Teenagers and children would be allowed to carry assault and sniper rifles, as the bill repeals all age restrictions on the possession of long guns.
And that, of course, is total crap.
Update: From Kaveman: Go to the BC homepage and click the “capitol under fire” image and look at the top of page #5:
Under H.R. 6691, it would even be legal for some terrorists to carry .50 caliber sniper rifles and military-style assault rifles.
Wow!
The council proposal does not give residents blanket approval to own semiautomatic pistols, which have become the most popular kinds of handguns. It would ban magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. It also would repeal a regulation barring a gun owner from registering more than one pistol. In addition, the legislation would do away with the requirement that handgun registrants submit their weapons to D.C. police for ballistics testing.
It will also get rid of the storing weapons disassembled requirement. A start but not good enough. And Chris Cox says:
D.C. has lost all credibility in dealing with this issue
Indeed.
Via SIH.
I get an email forwarded to me telling my to forward it to everyone I know. And I did that. No, I kid. The email says go to a bunch of websites and complain about how the local big oil conglomerate is shafting us all by gouging us. I respond back that, perhaps, the originator of the email should take an Economics 101 class. Or maybe read Rich Hailey.
BTW, this comment left there is presented without, err, comment:
I wonder how much oil companies pay a year to bloggers in order to have them make all kinds of excuses for price gouging. When Obama becomes President, the oil companies will no longer get these windfall profits because Obama will return that money to the hard working consumer. Gas will return to being a 1.25 a gallon because the oil companies won’t have an oil crony chimp in the White House who, when he isn’t having people tortured and carpet bombing civilians for fun, spends all hia time keeping his oil buddies rich.
Speaking of Joe, I don’t know that I’ve ever mentioned he created Modern Ballistics, the world’s most sophisticated small arms exterior ballistics program for the personal computer.
Tennessean has a bit on the Rosalind Kurita incident:
Tennessee Democratic Party leaders voided a bitterly contested Senate primary result on Saturday, a move likely to result in the ouster of the Senate’s second-most-powerful member, Sen. Rosalind Kurita, and a hard-fought victory for her opponent.
The party executive committee voted 33-11 to declare the Senate District 22 primary “incurably uncertain” and referred the election outcome to county party executives to decide. The result of that vote is also uncertain, but many predicted that county officials would declare Clarksville attorney Tim Barnes the winner.
A write in Kurita campaign as kicked off.
During the 2000 election, there was a saying kicked around: Only Democrats and dictators fear elections. In TN, seems to be the case.
Somehow, categories disappeared completely from wordpress last night. That, and the fact my blogroll has disappeared have created site issues to be resolved. So, hopefully I’ve given you enough to keep you busy while I get that fixed.
Update: All better now. Not Robb’s fault. Turns out, a particular bug in wordpress was the culprit. Upgrading to the latest fixed it.
Again.
FBI has a publication called Sniper Tactics and Effects on the US Homeland 2007. It says:
Showing a keen interest in marksmanship, obtaining sniper-related books and other training materials, spending time at shooting ranges, modifying vehicles in a nontraditional manner, and purchasing rifles and associated optics may be indicators of potential terrorist planning efforts; however, most of these indicators can be associated with legitimate purposes. The difficulty lies in determining when individuals or groups are engaged in these types of activities in support of terrorist attack planning.
I bolded those that I do.
Well, do ya?
Thanks to Robb for the site redesign! And use him for all your gun blogging template needs.
And if you notice anything quirky, lemme know.
Update: Still working some bugs out.
Been out. Not reading the internets. Checked the bloglines account with over 600 unread. Said screw it and marked it all read.
Miss anything important? Well, other than ABC trying to win an election?
And that gas in East Tennessee is one hundred billion dollars per gallon.
In East Tennessee, supply meets demand. And they’re not hitting it off, I’m told.
But if the blog accounts are true, both Sarah Palin and Charlie Gibson entered and only Palin left.
Caleb is soliciting topics for his radio show on guns. I suggest GLOCK v. 1911; AR-15 v. AK-47; and whether or not the 5.56NATO round is a potent manstopper.
What could possibly go wrong?
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
