More on Blackwater and Suppressors

In an update to this, that’s what they get for buying American. They could have just left the country and ordered suppressors made in another country.

Our gun laws, at times, are inhibiting.

The .gov is simply guilty of doing what it does best. Turning molehills into mountains. The MSNBC article is geared to scare the soccermommies (hitment!) over safety equipment which is unregulated in most other countries and required in others, whereas it’s almost mala prohibita unless you pay a tax and get the Regent’s signature in the US.

Honestly, if they weren’t trying to Buy American and help the local economies, this would be a non-issue. Ship the damned things over from Finland after buying them for half of what they paid, pre-tax, for the U.S. models.

…all because they didn’t want to outsource hardware…and wanted the best.

Maybe Congress needs to issue a Letter or Marque to Blackwater. I’m very much in favor of reviving this tradition. Especially if I can get one. That might revive my now dwindling entrepreneurial spirit.

I started to mention the attractiveness of purchasing suppressors elsewhere, but as sometimes happens with us old folks I got sidetracked.

I suspect we will now witness the business going offshore. And who could blame them?

Ordered from some country concerned about it’s citizen’s hearing and save $200 tax each not to mention paperwork. And probably paid less for the device itself by buying from a company that doesn’t have an artificially reduced market.

Wait a minute! What about the “Buy American Act“? As a government contractor, sometimes they are required to buy domestic products to remain in compliance. It seems you are dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
