In dealing with the police

Kim reminds me of something I’ve said before: Keep your mouth shut.

And be polite.

Always listen carefully to officers, especially on your own property or this could happen to you as it did to the doc at his own residence.

Gotta love it! Especially if this doctor contracts hepatitis, or even worse HIV from this event. I first read this story and thought “Doctor came outside of house and officers asked him about dogs, and he became irate and they subdued him”. Then I thought why in the hell are tax payer dollars spent to send 4 cruisers to a non violent occurrence inside the County when the County and State wants us all to believe that they cannot afford a gravel to pave our roads. Especially BCPD that has told us of their financial hardships over the past year to the tune of not being able to perform some regular duties. Sounds like a mis-management of funds as well as patrolmen. Then I thought “You know what, screw that! I don’t care if the doctor did become irate on his own property”. If the officers had shown this individual any form of respect given that they were on his property he probably would have never gone to jail at all.
Talking to a Blount County officer that I went to school with about issues like entering the wrong residence and things of this nature he told me that in training the one thing that they want the officers to understand is that when they enter private property, either inside a home or outside that they should respond to issues as if the property they on belonged to them. This explains a huge amount as to why there is constant controversy and lack of respect for today’s men in blue. You cant demand respect from the public when the only ones you truly “Protect and Serve” are politicians and the wealthy. Long past are the days when officers appreciated the communities respect and strived to earn it, the days of getting a warning are over and the system so corrupted that the only way out is to get your knees dirty… I love the lick it or ticket I read somewhere, truely fitting.

    Just my $.05…..
