All linky, no thinky

On travel. So, some random stuff that was actually typed last night. Blogging from the past, spooky, eh?

  • Quote of the day:

If a meteorologist can’t get the weather forecast right 3 days from now, why should I EVER put any stock in what someone says the weather will be like in 100 years?

He must not be in Knoxville. In K-Town, they can’t even get it right three hours from now.

  • Phelps:

If you can be guilty of a felony because you do something that the police are too stupid to understand, then we are all well and truly fucked.

  • Handgun sales up. Long gun sales down. I figure the Evil Black Rifle Craze has kinda dropped after a spike following the sunset of the ban on weapons that look like assault weapons.
  • In other news, the NRA can pass laws? Idiot.
  • National Concealed Carry Standard:

As Nebraska tries to work out its gun laws, Senator Ben Nelson is trying to ensure your concealed weapon permit is good in all other states. Nelson is calling for a national standard for the right to carry a concealed weapon.

  • Excuses, excuses.
  • Bruce’s feed stopped working and is now at a different URL. You should let people know that. In other news, hot things can burn you.
  • Chris Rock called. He wants his material back.
  • TTLB’s gun blog thingy is broken. No, I can’t fix it. Stop asking.
  • The National Shooting Sports Foundation, like everyone else, says No to Rudy. Yet, they like Romney?
  • Bloggers make $2 – $10K per month? So, what am I doing wrong here?
  • Maryland wants to tax weapons that look like assault weapons. Not a new idea, just look at the NFA.

And I thought for sure you’d link to my 2×4 amendment post. Yeah, the “Gun Guy” is an idiot.

Actually, Bo does live in Knoxville I think….he musta been feeling generous.

Meteorologists may not be able to tell me what the weather will be like on 8/7, but even I know it’s going to be warmer than it is today. I’m a global warming skeptic myself, but this is a lousy argument.

I think their definition of “most” is a bit askew.

It’s not just the TTLB’s gunblogger thingy. Apparently nothing over there has updated since Jan 1, 2007. It’s a little irritating, but I’m not one to bitch about free ice cream (even when it’s all gone.)

      Grumble, yes. Bitch, no.

It’s a sound argument, Stormy. The margin of error that the are claiming is about 3 degrees a century. Sure, you can tell us that it is going to be hotter in August, but can you tell us within 10 degrees how much hotter?

No, YOUR argument is sound, Phelps. If Uncle had said that long term climate predictions were dubious because the error made it impossible to tell if the predicted increase was significant, I’d have a greed. But that’s not what he argued; he argued that an inability to predict the near term details of a particular time series implies and inability to predict the long term trend of the same. That argument I don’t agree with.

[…] Actually, it’s from Feb 5, via SayUncle, but I’m a week behind: I’m too fucking stupid to know the difference between weather and climate, or to know that a meteorologist and a climatologist aren’t the same thing. […]

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
