How not to be taken seriously

Over at Lean Left, there is (in my opinion) a pretty good discussion in the comments about whether or not Bush lied. My conclusion: not this time. The source was spinning it. However, Bush said similar things in the past.

You can see the comments here. Then this genius chimes in with:

Man, the trolls just get worse and worse. Why do you bother feeding them, Kev?

I guess he was evoking rule number #16 on someone else’s blog.

In the event you ever wondered why I read so few lefty blogs, there you go.

Actually, I wasn’t commenting on your comments at all. Interesting that you immediately thought of yourself when I mentioned “trolls”.

I was referring to Joe, who was quite obviously way out of his league, again.

But, if you prefer to think of yourself as a troll, go on with your bad self. It’s a shame, as we’ve actually had a discussion or two over there, and were fairly civil.

Until this happened, I had always put you in the category of very rare intelligent conservative who was well spoken and not a troll. But if it makes you feel better to insult someone who wasn’t insulting you, go for it.

After all, Cheney’s new ethos is “If it feels good, do it.” Right?

Actually, i thought joe had a lot to say that was relevant. The misclassification of people as trolls has always irked me and that got under my skin. Just because someone disagrees with you, it doesn’t make them a troll.

It has nothing to do with making me feel better. It has to do with minimizing the impact of a debate by calling someone a troll, who isn’t one.

    Okay everyone play nice, please.

Uncle, laz is a good guy, and he isn’t the kind to throw the term troll around lightely. He was wrong about Joe, but Joe can sometimes be easy to misconstrue, and people make mistakes.

Laz, Uncle is a good guy who you just touched a pet peeve with.

I would take it as a personal favor if the two of you would metaphorically shake and hands.

  4. lazarus Says:

I’ll be happy to. Uncle, once again, I didn’t call you a troll. And someone representing positions as extreme as the ones I’ve seen Joe post over at LeanLeft is fairly easy to categorise as a troll.

Sorry it pushed a button with you.

But being attacked like this on a blog over comments on another blog? That’s my button. There was no reason for this. No reason at all. If you really wanted to say something to me, you could have done it in that discussion thread.

Instead, you decided I was someone you could try to make an example of.

From this point, the truce is up to you. I’m willing to for Kevin’s sake. But if you have something to say to me, my email is public, and you could easily just respond in the comments section where appropriate.

There was a reason. To draw attention to it. Granted, having read the comments, it wasn’t a good reason or the right reason in this instance. Apologies for jumping the gun.

accepted. “Let us never speak of this again.” /Homer Simpson.

    Virtual handshake?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
