Still around. Just not felt the urge to comment on, well, anything. It’s election day and I’ll be glad when it’s over. I tire of all the BS political ads and the constant stream of supposed fact-checking that has overtaken social media.
Literally, I cannot look at a screen of any kind and not see political nonsense. And we’re in
, what, year 15 of this election cycle. It’s awful.

I don’t think we’ll see much rioting in Boyds Creek, but we’re fairly well prepared to cope with short-term supply-chain disruption, just in case. That basement is coming in handy!

I’ve been making an effort to actively avoid election coverage, personally. This isn’t a part of the process we have any say in, and I don’t need the health problems associated with perseverating on things I can’t control, so I’m turtled up. I’ve been taking the boy out to his great-grandmother’s house, and teaching him firearms safety and basic marksmanship.
my dad gave my son the single shot bolt action .22 that was his first gun, long about 1958. after we’ve practiced the fundamentals for a bit, I like to let him have a mag-dump or two out of my goofy M&P 15-22. I stuck an Aimpoint PRO and cheap 4x magnifier on it, making what was already fun into an absolute hoot.
I can’t tell you how glad I am to see you update; not because I’m short of reading material or anything, but because I worry about you. I know we don’t actually know each other, but I’ve been one of your readers since very close to day one, and it -feels- like I know you. My own prognosis ain’t so hot any more (leukemia: still a total bastard) and I worry about leaving my wife and son behind in a not too terribly distant future, but seeing you keep your shit together gives me a lot of hope for them. You’ve always struck me as being a stand-up guy, FWIW, and the incredible fashion you’ve coped with all this shit is amazing.
Anyway, if there’s anything we can do for you and yours from down here in the land of the Crimson Turd, please don’t hesitate to ask.
