Sanctuary county

VA sheriff says hed deputize thousands of citizens to exclude them from state gun bans

Good for him. I mean I don’t think it’s particularly reasonable but unreasonable laws some times require unreasonable solutions.

Well, if they’re all deputized, it makes the posse easier to assemble when time comes to start apprehending the opposition.

The Cook County Sheriff was doing that, too, for as long as I can remember. (I don’t know if there’s a lot of demand for it anymore now that we have CCW.) And the LA County Sheriff, I read some place.

That was my first thought when I read about that exemption. Just need some sheriff to start deputizing people and suddenly everyone is either an active or former police officer.

The cases in Illinois and California, weren’t they actually selling deputy badges to the highest bidder? That’s usually how corruption works.

I don’t know about LA County, but in Cook County it was, and may still be, a regular market with a more or less set price. The customers I knew (or knew of) ranged from Gayle Sayers the football star to neighborhood lady real estate agents.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
