The Kavanaugh embarrassment

I’ve not commented on it. But this is a national embarrassment. And both sides of the debate should be ashamed. For the republicans saying “it was 30 years ago”. Doesn’t matter if it was 5 minutes ago. If it happened it did.

Except I highly doubt it did happen. She has no date, place, or location. Her three witnesses did not back up her claim. And her senate appearance was an embarrassment to her. And the line of the Republican’s attorney during the hearing wasn’t for us. It was for the squishy republicans whose votes are needed. Hence, her angle of leading someone to think this was a political ploy. Which I really don’t doubt it was.

Republicans, you have the senate. Act like it.

And they lined up their liars, nice & neat, in 24-hour increments:
    1) sexual assault
    2) “flashing”
    3) gang rape
    4) battery

republicans definitely suck, but dems are downright evil.

  2. Divemedic Says:

Even if everything Ford said were true, under the laws in effect in 1982, what happened was not a crime. The attitude of the nation was different then. The movie Porky’s came out just a year earlier. The Violence Against Women Act wasn’t passed until 1994.

  3. Aesop Says:

They’re not saying “it was okay because it was 30 years ago”.

They’re saying because this wasn’t reported for 30 years it probably never happened.
Along with the fact that the allegation is bereft of any corroborating facts whatsoever, and has been denied by everyone else supposedly present, most of whom say there wasn’t even a party, and the whole tale is a made-up fiction.

  4. pkoning Says:

    One other thought.
It’s considered normal to judge juveniles differently than adults. So it’s a bit strange to see democrats argue that these alleged juvenile acts are heinous crimes when at the same time they are passing laws that say humans are children until they reach age 26.

Christine M Blasey PhD has also made quite a career out of shilling for RU486 as a wonder drug.

  6. JTC Says:

    How about 50 years ago?

As a 14-15 y.o. boy in ’68-’69 a little grabbing, smooching, etc. was the norm. That’s not attempted rape and it’s not even assault, it was called being a pubescent boy…and bearing in mind the context of the summer of love etc., lots of girls engaged with a perfunctory protest. Still doesn’t make it right, but it’s just the way it was.

Good thing I’m not trying to be a judge I guess, although in this era just trying to be a man is enough to trigger this shit and destroy you.

  7. Charles Says:

Feinstein should be censured and force to resign from the judiciary committee.

  8. SPQR Says:

Ford never mentioned it to anyone until she was losing an argument with her husband for a second front door….

    That’s one pot of crazy.

  9. Mike Says:

I think the most likely explanation is very simple, and it a way, terribly tragic; she was probably attacked, just as she described, by someone else.

She didn’t know Kavenaugh well, as they were never in the same social circle. She simply made a mistake. It explains everything.

Everything that followed was driven by our broken institutions and by a ferocious political cynicism that consumes lives like they are nothing. If she ever owns up to her mistake she will a pariah, denounced and discarded by very the people who gained her trust.

It was an embarrassment, and we will be paying for this for decades.

If there is any good in any of this, the institutions and traditions that civilize these sorts of things occasionally grow old and weak, and need to be torn down so they can be replaced. We did the tearing down pretty well, right down to the foundation. Maybe we have the character to replace it, eventually, with something better.

  10. Ron W Says:

According to her testimony, Dr. Ford only wanted the incident presented confidentially to the Judiciary Comittee and to the President so that Kavanaugh was not selected. Had this been done, it is quite likely that Trump, knowing the potential problem, would’ve made another selection. But this was NOT what Democrats wanted. They used and abused her, leaking to the press to delay and stop the process.

  11. Charles Johns Says:

Christine Ford lied under oath to the Senate. Her home remodel was not in 2012. It was in 2008.

As Paul Sperry reported on Thursday night. The Palo Alto building permits were issued to Ford and her husband in 2008 — NOT 2012.

Paul Sperry: Palo Alto bldg permit records raise questions about Ford’s testimony she completed an “extensive remodel” of home in 2012 & that this was seminal event that led her down path to coming out against Kavanaugh b/c she needed to add an escape door. Permit was issued in 2008.

LIVE: Ford claims she’s not “political” & that reason Kavanaugh first “came up in counseling” in May 2012 was that she & her husband argued over her desire to add “a second front door” to home b/c Kavanaugh had made her “claustrophobic.” But there may have been something else …

  12. Will Says:

The date of 2012 may come up due to her planning on running this same scam on Mittens to keep him from nominating Kavanaugh, if he won the Presidency. Wish I could remember where I read this story.
When Mittens lost, it got shelved until the next GOP attempt. Apparently, Kavanaugh really scares the Left.

  13. Patrick Says:

Prediction: Jeff Flake working for NBC and/or CNN as a regular commentator starting next year…

  14. Siegen Says:

Ford also said that she couldn’t testify last week because her intense fear of flying meant that she would have to drive to DC. After her delay was granted, she waited until this week to fly to DC, apparently with no issues. Since she had already lied to the committee in writing, they committee should have declared she was an unreliable witness, and canceled her appearance.

  15. Ron W Says:

@Siegen, and offers were made to Ford THREE times from the Judiciary Committee to come to her and take her private testimony–through her legal team. That was widely reported in the media too. Yet she testified she was unaware!! Someone in or among her legal reps are lying and intentionally refused to tell her!!! Those people need to be held accountable. They are quite obviously working for the Democrats who wanted this a very public political spectacle.

  17. ravenshrike Says:

While there may have been some sort of incident 36 years ago that may or may not have included Kavanaugh does not change that was a nakedly political ploy. We know this because every single question about events that happened less than two months ago which would have nailed down what actions she and those surrounding her took and when they happened was met with a variation of I don’t recall. Which means either her memory is more than faulty enough that it can’t remotely be trusted in the first place, or she was lying through her teeth. I especially distrust the idea that she never knew about the offer for committee members or their agents to depose her in California.

  18. Ron W Says:

” I especially distrust the idea that she never knew about the offer for committee members or their agents to depose her in California.”
    –ravenshrike

Yes! That’s a lie which is definitely attributable to her or her two lawyers, or all of them, in collusion.

  19. PaulB Says:

Lies, all lies. top to bottom. We need to get the democrats out of all political offices. they failed the first time they tried to destroy the republic, they need to fail again. Never vote for a democrat. Never.

  20. Tim Says:

    “Never vote for a democrat.”

It’s an insane asylum masquerading as a political party. Lock them up.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
