Housekeeping: Anyone else seen pornographic ads here?

A reader sent a screen cap of a pretty naught ad generated by one of my ad providers. I’ve contacted the service that I use to get to the bottom of it. Anyone else experience this?

Check that the browser and/or proxy the reader was using wasn’t jacked.

“Ad-jacking” is pretty common – I have run across it often-ish while traveling. Some simple hardware basically uses the same lists an ad-blocker would use, but instead of blocking the ad they replace it with one of their own. It’s like pasting your own ad over someone else’s billboard.

Companies install the hardware at providers (hotels, for instance) then pay a small bit of ad-jacked revenue back. In a search for a quick buck, I’ve seen some really oddball ads that I doubt the hotel would have wanted to be associated with.

If you get a pagedump, email me and I’ll be happy to look it over.

Makes sense, it was an out of country user. Ad server is taking care of it.

Right now your page is serving up an ad for “Male Spandex Fun Wear”, and in smaller print “Spandex Fetish Wear, Male Chastity Gear”. The click-thru URL appears to be http://st.blogads.com/671000234707/431000234705/click?d=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.koalaswim.com&c=46a7178a813ca3b8d694f7931f1e1ee2

I would have mentioned it earlier, but I don’t want to judgmental about your lifestyle choices… 😉

This thread is useless without pics.

Also, its probably responding to the type of sites that the viewer visits, as opposed to what Unc visits.

I am seeing the spandex/chastity ads as well. Tried three nets and came in blind from an international link. Same each time. No comm tracking possible on two of the links.

I can’t get to my workstations now, but that one looks legit.

And all this time I thought we gunnies were using metal to compensate for small hardware. Turns out we actually need metal to compensate for oversized hardware.

The advert algorithms do not lie.

The only ads I ever see are the ones for Amazon, Bison and Arms Dealer.

  9. Tokarev Says:

I just spent way too much time looking for naughty adds on your site. You know, so that I can be shocked and uh, offended and such.

  10. comatus Says:

But. Is is Tactical Spandex? Because that would be…

How cursed we are to live in a time when “Tactical Male Chastity Gear” is a concept that actually makes sense.

This post reminds me of the time my college roommate got a phone call from his mom, shortly after Christmas break, to talk about the French foreign exchange student living back home with the family. Seems the young lady had been demonstrating French morality, so to speak, to my roomie’s two younger brothers, and some of their high school friends. And a trip to the doctor was required for all involved, for a shot of tetracycline each.

My roomie got off the phone and laughingly told me that his mom was obviously fishing, trying to find out if he, too, had slept with the sweet young thing. He denied any knowledge of the entire issue to his mom.

Then he put on his jacket, grabbed his keys, and headed over to the school infirmary to ask for a shot of tetracycline, too.

Yeah. Lately I’ve seen the men’s fetish wear ad, but I figured “whatever pays the bills”.

  13. JayNola Says:

I see the latex chastity Gear one too. Just assumed it was Dennis from dragon leather works secret side business.

Spactical Tandex, OMG! I think I just invented something?!

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
