You darn people in flyover country trying to impose your will on us

That’s our job.

Some butthurt in NYC over the national reciprocity bill that, according to The NY Daily “News”, covers “concealed-carry privileges”. Even Chuck Schumer (D-ranged) chimes in:

“This bill is a menace to New York and would allow potentially dangerous people from other states to carry concealed weapons in our grocery stores, movie theaters and stadiums, without even notifying the police,” Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told the Daily News.

“It is a nightmare for our law enforcement officers and the community, and I will fight this legislation tooth and nail.”

What about the potentially dangerous people from your own state that are already there? Why would anyone think that notifying the police made a difference? I’ll never understand yankee politicians.

And by “lax” gun laws they mean “The police can’t deny permits to people who have passed background checks and taken whatever training we demand.”

  2. JimB Says:

They don’t call him Chuck the Shmuck for nothing…

  3. Chris Says:

This is rich, since Schumer is in the back pocket of Wall Street, the too big to fail banks, etc.

Which has caused greater hardship and harm to our country, Schumer’s pet supporters or our handgun carry permit holders?

Does anyone really thing that Schumer is not a metrosexual girly-man?

Would you trust your security to someone like him?

He may pass for a man in NYC, but to me he is an over-educated Beta male.

  4. nk Says:

The federal government can only allow interstate compacts under Article, Section 10 — it cannot impose them. The individual states would still need to agree to the reciprocity. WTF is Chuckie talking about?

  5. SPQR Says:

And yet, Schmuck thinks I have to put up with his bodyguards when he leaves NY.

  6. SPQR Says:

nk, interstate commerce clause – the magic clause. đŸ˜‰

  7. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Yeah, since when has the 10th amendment been applied according to its wording or spirit?

  9. Akatsukami Says:

Schumer is more of a yanker than a yankee.

If Bloomberg can buy a ballot initiative in WA State…

From my piece on this at The Backwoods Engineer:

    “Without notifying the police!”

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ol’ Backwoods should have notified the police, I guess, when I stopped at the gas station in Georgia to take a whiz!? Mrs. Backwoods should have notified the police when she was out shopping in our little town today!? Backwoods Jr. should have notified the police before going to the auto parts store when his truck broke down in Virginia!?

By Chucky’s lights, we should have notified The Authoritah! when we were all carrying a g-g-g-gun (horrors!) concealed (double horrors!) while visiting these places of business!

Miracle of miracles, NOBODY GOT SHOT! How is that possible, Senator Schumer? I mean, hey, when your Noo Yawk City “Only Ones” go after a suspect, 8 or 9 people get shot!

And people like Schumer think we are the provincials.

You oughta get out more, Chucky. People in the free states carry every single day. We are the safest, lowest-crime segment of society. By and large, we are safer people than the police, I would daresay. The police should notify us that they are carrying!

  13. SDN Says:

nk, what part of “Full Faith and Credit” is unclear?

IOW, if Texas has to recognize NY’s gay marriage license, NY has to recognize Texas’ CHL.

  14. Jim Scrummy Says:

“I’ll never understand yankee politicians.” Here’s how to understand them, “They all suck”-Jim Scrummy. Oh, Chuckie is a d-bag.

  15. Huck Says:

Calling politicos like Schumer a Yankee is a insult to Yankees. đŸ™‚

BTW Schumey, do you notify the cops about the guns that your hired thugs, that you call bodyguards, are packing?

  16. Burnt Toast Says:

I would never set foot in NYC unless armed and dangerous and without notifying the constable of my presence… more likely to tour Mogadishu, not because it is safer, but more accommodating and less costly overall…

  17. JMB Says:

Schumer said the very same thing about the police carry bill and none of his “fears” about that came to fruition when it passed. That should be the analogy used against him.

  18. Crotalus Says:

Well, Chuck the Schmuck has always been a Nazi uberjude, or Jewish kapo.

  19. nk Says:

SDN, at 13. Full Faith and Credit means something else. Illinois, which forbids marriage between first cousins and also has an age requirement of 18, does not have to recognize a Tennessee marriage between first cousins or a Mississippi marriage to a 13-year old. Are you sure about that Texas gay marriage case?

If you want federal carry, nationwide, without the necessity of states agreeing between themselves on reciprocity, think MacDonald vs. City of Chicago, which held the the 2nd Amendment to be binding on the states through the 14th, and go to the enabling clause of the 14th. That’s the best route for a federal statute, better than the Commerce Clause which does have 10th Amendment obstacles.

  20. DocMerlin Says:

“Illinois, which forbids marriage between first cousins and also has an age requirement of 18, does not have to recognize a Tennessee marriage between first cousins or a Mississippi marriage to a 13-year old.”
    – Actually every state has to recognize a marriage preformed out of state, even if that marriage wouldn’t be valid in its state. The exception was gay marriages because of specific federal law.

  21. nk Says:

You could be right, Doc. I might be behind the times.

  22. comatus Says:

Merely a “menace”? If he didn’t call it a “dagger to the heart,” he’s not serious yet.

Schumer’s big on dagger control. They really scare him.

  23. Lyle Says:

Since all statism/authoritarianism relies on fear and ignorance, Schumer is doing what he must do– He’s speaking fear to the ignorant. Give him a break; he’s trapped.

  24. Deaf Smith Says:

All I say is if it does pass and become law, then IF I travel to NYC I will KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT and not mention I pack.

Probably have to wait till Obama leaves office and some Republican becomes President and both houses are Republican (and that is a good possibility.)

  25. Lyle Says:

Deaf Smith; you mean Republicans like Chris Christie?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
