Drill, baby, drill

Remember when Obama said that was a bumper sticker and not a good policy? He, of course, was wrong. But it is funny to see the mental gymnastics involved in giving him credit for the decline in prices, which happened in spite of his policies.

He is an expert in taking credit for what others have done. Remember when he took credit for getting Bin Laden?

The fight with Obama over oil drilling isn’t anywhere near over. Just today the news reports about oil noted that Obama’s EPA has proposed regulations to limit the amount of methane released during drilling, because climate change.

The proposals would put a lot of drilling in south and west Texas out of business, because burning off unusable, unsellable amounts of methane is commonly done now, and might not be allowed under the proposed regs.

So hey, enjoy the low gas prices while they last. When Obama can help make electric cars competitive with gasoline cars by screwing up the greatest innovative period in petroleum production history, he will.

He also said that gas prices were low under Bush because the economy was weak. We was partially right. He won’t say that this time though.

The shit of it is, if oil stays this low, there won’t be enough profit margin for “Big Shale” to stay in business. That will be a lot of good-paying American jobs flushed down the drain. But hey, Obama will let those workers go to Community College for free!

Why doesn’t he take credit for something for which he actually had some influence–greatly increased gun sales.

Funny, I remember the media telling me he didn’t have a price control lever in the Whitehouse. This was of course well after all those Obama automobile gas door magnets were passed out during the campaign.

It’s also funny to see everyone who said the oil from the Keystone XL wouldn’t stay in the U.S. so it wouldn’t effect prices (like there isn’t a global market for oil.) Now they’re telling me the drop in global prices means that it’s not worth building anymore.

    “mental gymnastics”?
You sure have an unusual term for delusion, and “desperately clutching at flotsam AFTER the ship has gone down”.

  7. Firehand Says:

Have gone round & round with couple of people on that; when Bush was in office “WHY ISN’T HE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT GAS PRICES!! He doesn’t CARE about working people!”
And when Obama took office it became “Well, the President doesn’t actually have any influence on gas prices.” Some of them get kind of excited when you call them on it.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
