Shaving

JT on cream and straight razors. I’ve been perfectly happy with the Merkur Long Handle (I have long fingers) and the badger brush.

And I go back and forth between two shaving creams. The Taylor of Old Bond Street sandalwood is nice, fragrant and the women like it. But the Proraso Eucalyptus & Menthol Shaving Soap is strangely refreshing and makes the occasional manscaping a bit more titillating.

    Prorasso is a good un.

I prefer the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum Tallow shaving soap from Prairie Creations and a vintage GEM 1912 Damaskeene razor with Ted Pella blades…

Yeah, I am serious about shaving.

Manscaping, gah, what has been read can not be unread…

I like the Taylor sandalwood myself. The wife likes how I smell when I save for church on Sunday anyhow

  5. The_Jack Says:

I second the Merkur long handle.

It’s been great and you really realize how much of a racket the disposable plastic razors are.

Half a bar of Dial yellow in the cup and a badger brush with a Dovo straight razor.

  7. Sigivald Says:

Yeah, I switched – at the start of the year – to a safety razor, myself.

I find it pleasing and effective, having tired of my old electric.

(Mine’s an Edwin Jagger, and I’ve found the Personna blades Work For Me.)

I find myself liking the Col. Conk Lime-scented soap; it’s not as weird as it sounded when I got the variety pack.

    Mama Bears!

Anything with tallow or lanolin in it makes me break out like crazy. I don’t know what she adds to her glycerine soaps, but they are slick as hell. I’m really partial to her Rosemary-Mint.

Using a gold plated 1930’s short comb Gilette NEW I got off Ebay for $20

  9. Skip Says:

What is this shaving you speak of?

  10. ShallNOTBeInfringed Says:

Long handle with the guard or just long handle. I’m in the market for a Merkur and I’m not sure what difference the guard makes.

  11. Kristophr Says:

Be a man. Get a proper straight razor and strop.

    I use a 5/8ths Solingen.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
