    It’s also about the bottom line. The war on coal and power in this country is driving up the cost of running a datacenter. The more stuff you can get in a large hosted facility the cheaper it will be for you in the long run. Also, piracy of Adobe products drove that move. Take a look at Adobe financials… There are alternatives to photoshop. The Gimp works just fine. But, you do still install adobe products locally, you just need to contact the creative cloud servers at least once every 30 days or your software will stop working.

    Grammar Nazi here: I believe the word you were looking for is effect, not affect. Alternately, the currently Politically Correct term is “impact.”

    Ownership is so last century. There are a lot of things you only think you own right now: Your house, for example, as you will find out when the city council decides they would make more money if a mall developer had the rights to it.
