“But Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart raised concerns last month that the approval process was “fraught with problems and holes” that could lead to permits being issued to people who have been arrested in the last seven years for domestic violence, gun possession or gang crimes. Since law enforcement agencies are banned from searching a comprehensive national database, Dart said, law enforcement agencies have to pour through their own databases to look for arrests and jail records.”
Yeah @$$hole, if you had brought your records department up to date like they kept telling you you’d have something to work with. They don’t need you mining every database everywhere. They already have that. They just need you to go through your own stuff, mkay?

Bob, Sheriff Tom needs to be briefed on the difference between “arrested” and “convicted.” Not Sam Ting.
It’s going to be interesting to see what other tap-dancing he does to deny permits. Or whether his Deppitys honor permits issued elsewhere in the state.
