Rewrite the second amendment

Well, have at it. I’d end every amendment with “because fuck you, that’s why”

10 Responses to “Rewrite the second amendment”

  1. Lyle Says:

If the original is not being obeyed, what makes anyone think a new one would be obeyed?

It’s like saying criminals don’t obey our laws, so let’s make more laws. It’s like posting a gun free zone sign. I will never understand how anyone thinks that’s a good idea.

  2. Wes S. Says:

Only change I’d make to the Second would be to add “What part of ‘Shall not be infringed’ do you not understand?”

Although Lyle, sadly, probably has it right.

  3. Professor X Says:

I would like to add more commas.

  4. Phelps Says:

The right to wage war resting ultimately with the People, any attempt to disarm the People shall be Treason and punished by death.

  5. Bram Says:

I would like to put “REALLY!” at the end of the Ninth and Tenth as well.

  6. Lyle Says:

“The right to wage war resting ultimately with the People, any attempt to disarm the People shall be Treason and punished by death.”

    Phelps; I like it, and also I will take this excellent opportunity to do what the left would do to it;

It depends on what you mean by “right” and “wage” and of course there are different ways to interpret “war”.

By “People” certainly you mean the government that represents the people, for this is after all a democracy….

You see; I have just completely gutted the literal meaning and the spirit of your new amendment. That’s what happens.

We already have the same meaning in the original second amendment that you put into your new version, and we have several additional laws and provisions to back it up. Its all there. Right now. And ultimately, when people embrace the role of enemies of liberty, theres never been anything to back up human rights on Earth other than physical force.

After my initial “HELL YEAH!” at Phelps’ proposal, this was my very second thought. 🙁

  8. Phelps Says:

They won’t do that, because as soon as they do, then they gut the 17th amendment, Senators will be elected by the states again, and they lose their grip on the government.

  9. Phelps Says:

    For reference, the 17th reads:

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years…

  10. I.B. Blackman Says:

hence forth at the age of maturity all citizens shall be issued a firearm to protect their family and property upon election to any public office said firearm will be handed over until term has expired

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
