The Rolls Royce of rifles

Not for my taste but those are pretty neat.

Got a friend in upstate new york who builds those things. That looks like one for the “lightweigh” class.
Did go to a couple of his matches. Watched somebody shooting a lightweight gun in .223/6mm class shoot groups of 0.167″ and come in 5th overall…(winning group was 0.144″).

    I … okay.

I don’t see the point, at any level, but whatever floats your boat (is a liquid denser than your boat).

I suppose at that point it’s a competition about rifle builds and handloading consistency? (Which is a fine thing, if it’s that interesting to you…)

Because I don’t see a lot of room in that thing for displaying shooting skill, as such.

It’s got little if anything to do with shooting skill, certainly. With the gunmaker’s and cartridge designer’s/loader’s art, a lot. I remember maybe thirty years ago they were precision machining their bullets from alloy rod stock and I’ve wondered since if the “cop-killer” bullet ban forced them to stop.

But yeah, it’s not my bag either.

They are competing against each others’ ability to read the wind, I would guess, as well as their loading ability.

Not to mix apples and oranges too much, but I’ve been to the range with blackpowder bench shooters adjusting their loads one milligram at a time. Beats hanging around the house with your wife nagging you to repaint the kitchen.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
