Unless you’re a sheriff who shoots his own hand while accepting an illegal transfer of a handgun across state lines (his cousin is from California). Then the state police will “investigate” and do nothing.

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine when his 44 mag with a locked up cylinder fired through his hand trying to get it to unlock. It took him over 2 years to get his gun back from the popo.
