Ok, Styer and Steyer are banned. Does that mean Steyr guns are still ok?
A quick comparison to the list of guns used at Columbine shows that the NY bans would only affect one of the guns they used – the TEC 9. The HiPoint is not on the list, and isn’t that the one that did the most damage? And isn’t that the gun that was created in response to the AWB – all the firepower with none of the scary features? Or at least not enough scariness to be banned ….

Says right at the top it’s a guide, not exhaustive. So it’s an official anti-helpful publication. At least the level of NY .gov service is consistent I guess.
aczarnowski, I’d argue that if a citizen cannot tell if a particular firearm is prohibited or not, the law is unconstitutionally vague.
Here’s my favorite.
The FN SCAR (http://www.fnhusa.com/index.php?cID=536) is listed by name. Not listed? The FN FNAR (http://www.fnhusa.com/l/products/commercial/autoloading-rifles/fnar-heavy/) which, while built on a completely different action, is a very accurate 7.62mm semi-auto.
So, the usual applies: let’s ban things that we think are “scary” (or “SCARy” in this case) and not others that are functionally equivalent. Great!
Wow I had no idea that there were that many AR manufacturer’s in the US. That makes me smile. Sad for NY but happy that there are that many people making EBR’s.
I am honored to be listed as banned in New York…any redneck with a hat can be thrown out of a bar. I and my team are banned from the state!
My next “gimmie” batch of tee shirts practically write themselves…
