   “Will had no right to call the officers liars,” Chitwood said Tuesday.

   No, the Judge had the AUTHORITY to call the officers liars. The defendant has the RIGHT to avoid self-incrimination and to be secure in his person and possessions unless reasonable cause exists to get a warrant for a search.

   And if officers are conducting a room check to determine if anyone is in need of care, due to a 911 hangup, looking for people in bureau drawers is not on the agenda.

   The judge went to the heart of the matter instead of the technical reason the drugs and pipe were thrown out. Fruit of the poison tree, and all that.

   Never trust anyone legally empowered to lie but then swears to tell the truth about it later…

   Wow. If the judge let that stand, then police all over the country would be able to go on fishing expeditions anywhere they wish just by knocking on the door and saying there had been a 911 hangup. They could bully into ANY residence at that point.

   ‘Chitwood lashed out at Will, saying he’d “impugned the integrity” of the Daytona Beach officers.’

   Liars have no integrity.

   Chitwood made a big mistake publicly going after a judge.. Even judges who do not agree with him frown upon cops calling out judges because if they let it happen to another one day it might happen to them… My bet is he is going to suddenly have to have his I’s dotted and his t’s crossed..

   The judge’s written opinion reinforces mine that I will NEVER allow a cop into my house. EVER.

   From long personnel experience I firmly believe the various police forces need reigning in. Yes many officers are hardworking, honest and dedicated. Sadly though somewhere in the neighborhood of 50% can’t be entrusted with your safety, property or even the virtue of your family pet…..
