Correlation

Puppycide seems to coincided with bad gun handling. Radley notes a couple instances of it. In one, an officer fired at a family pet from outside the home into the home where there were children. In another, an officer fires 13 rounds in an apartment complex to shoot a dog.

Some (not all) Cops are just scared of dogs. You see golden lab puppy, for some reason they see seething one-eared pitbull with an axe to grind. I honestly think it’s genetic. Training doesn’t seem to help them, either.

We do have our share of inner-city would be fight dogs raised by idiots, and that is unfortunate. We also have people that use their dogs as weapons on search warrants, or as a blockade to stall Officers as they destroy evidence or flee. But we also have Cops that just get scared at the sight of a dog. I can’t really take a defensive position for someone that kills an 8 month year old lab because it came at him in an aggressive manner. Aggressive behavior for a lab is rolling on its back for a belly rub.
