Played with one at a Blogshoot last December. Good Kit!

Too bad Ruger didn’t come out with them 30 years ago.

The Butler Creek Hot Lips banana clips and other brands I have all exhibit a bit of an unreliability issue: If used a lot, they seem to get unreliable due to wear at the business end. Some do, some don’t, and I haven’t had enough to determine the root causes.

If the Ruger feed lips aren’t made of super soft metal, they may work better and longer than some others on the market. The price premium for the Ruger brand then becomes the only stumbling block for this product, other than the “30 years too late to market” issue.

I’ve had good luck with the Butler creek steel lips 25 round mags – I have 6 of them and they run without a hitch. I did mod mine a bit – as purchased the top of the mag that fits into the magwell is a little bit smaller than the Ruger 10 rounders and had some front to back movement when locked in.

If Ruger had these mags available at the time I would have paid the extra cash for them just for the ability to disassemble them for cleaning.

With the Butler creek, I occasionally blast them clean with a plastic-safe silicone spray through a spray tube.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
