Gun bill in Tennessee

As a general rule, it is not illegal have a gun on you in Tennessee. It is, however, illegal to carry a gun with the intent to go armed without a permit. Intent actually matters. That is to say if you are merely transporting a gun from A to B without, you’re good. If you have a gun and no permit and the police pull you over and you say you have it for self-defense, then you are breaking the law.

There’s a bill at the capitol looking to clarify what intent to go armed means.

So how does one go about Hunting? I mean, if you have a Lever 30-30 on the Rifle Rack in the Pick Up, and it’s Deer Season, it’s Cool, but if you have it “Just in Case”, it’s not? In both case, you are intending to be armed, right?

Besides, this smacks of Jim Crow to me. I mean, the Cops get to stop the Minority Dude walking down the Road with a Can of Gasoline to his empty Car on the side road and arrest him because he was “Intending to commit Arson,” right?

Hell, we could put 75% of the Politicians around in the Slammer because of their “Intentions.”

There’s an old observation that roughly 50% of the population is equipped to practice prostitution; beyond that, it’s all a question of intent. It seems especially apt in analyzing the intentions of the politically inclined.

The Tennessee Constitution, Article I, Section 26, enumerates the people’s right to bear (carry) arms for self-defense. Obviously, the reason to carry is to go armed for self-defense forwhich there is a RIGHT, a plainly stated, declared, enumerated RIGHT!!!

Hasn’t this ever been challenged in court??? Otherwise, this part of the Constitution is just being blatantly and in-your-face, criminally violated!

The other approximately 50% are equipped to commit rape. Intent indeed.

  5. Mike V. Says:

One problem with the law as it is now is you have a semi-auto weapon in your trunk and a loaded magazine for that weapon lying next to it in the trunk, you are in violation of the law. Even though the weapon is unloaded.

Read the rest of it: “but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime.”

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
