More flashlight blogging

After yesterday’s flashlight blogging, some recommended the 4Sevens Preon 2. Looks to have the same features but about half the price.

If your choice is to go with common batteries, look at the 4Sevens Quark AAČ R5, which uses AA. Much better run time and AA’s are probably a little more common than AAA (at least in my house). The down side is it’s a little bigger in length and diameter.

The standard preon, which uses a single battery, is what my wife keeps in her pockets all the time. i cant believe how bright it is for the size and price.

If you look around, there are coupon codes for their site, and they run sales all the time.

The streamlight version is 1/2 the price of it http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-66118-Stylus-Flashlight-Holster/dp/B0015UC17E/ref=pd_bxgy_p_text_b

I’ve been using the Streamlight Stylus and love it for its size. I did order a Preon 2 the other day. The difference in output huge.

Cool. I like the Preon a lot better than the one from yesterday. For a stylus-style light it’s pretty rockin’.

I have the Preon 1 and the Preon 2, and the Streamlight Stylus Pro. For the price, the Streamlight Stylus is very good. Yes, it is dimmer than both Preons, and not quite as sleek, however, I do like the pocket clip better. It sits a little deeper in the pocket. The power button is also a little harder to press than the Preon 2. That is actually a good thing. I’ve gone through a few sets of batteries because my hip turns the Preon 2 on when I sit down and I don’t realize it. The Preon 1 is turned on by swiveling the front cap, which is okay, but takes two hands to actuate.

I do still think the Preon 2 is amazing. It’s sleek, lightweight, waterproof, the 3 brightness settings are nice — but I wish it had a way to remember the last setting it was on. There are times I want it to be the brightest on my first click, rather than cycling through 3 clicks.

In my opnion, you should get both the Preon 2 and the Streamlight! I usually think how my day will unfold when I decide which flashlight to go with for my EDC. If you’re out hiking, working on the car, or at the range the Streamlight will be just fine. But if I’m taking my wife out to dinner and a movie and need to light my path, the titanium Preon 2 is a classy way to go. The routine gets mundane; mix things up!

I ordered the Preon 2. Should be here Tuesday.

  8. Mike Says:

    I have a Preon 2. You won’t be disappointed.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
