I don’t think that was effective

Cali said the man took out several firearms and, in an effort to prove they were safe when the woman asked him to put them away, held one to his head and pulled the trigger, thinking it wasn’t loaded.

And he’s a Navy SEAL.

Tam always cracks me up when she points out that SEAL stands for “Sleep, Eat, And Lift”.

The four rules aren’t hard, and if you aren’t following them you’re an idiot!

  2. Robert Says:

The gun WAS safe…..but he wasn’t.

    An easy mistake to make.

Most people I know are smart enough to avoid easy mistakes.

I would make that the final SEAL test. OK everyone pick up a gun you think is safe, point it at your head and pull the trigger.

Those that make a BANG eliminate themselves. They don’t know how to unload a weapon.

Those that make a click sound – they can go home. They are not all that bright.

Those that didn’t pick up the gun pass the test.

WAS a Navy Seal. His stupidity cost the taxpayers untold $$$ not only for his training, which is now wasted, but for his lifetime medical care.

    He forgot the zeroth rule.

    Is gun. Is not safe.

  12. Chas Says:

    Don’t do that!

  13. Disavowed With Honor Says:

This is how the SEAL teams protect themselves from the undesireables that apply for SEAL status. They allow the candidate to weed themselves out.

    “thinking it wasn’t loaded”

I don’t believe he was thinking.

Heh, kinda like the final test given to truck drivers for employment at one company: “back those pups” (that’s the dual trailers for those unfamiliar). The correct answer is “either you think I’m stupid or you expect a lot more than I can give you”. Hint: it’s not possible.

As one who has conducted many LOD’s, I will say this was not in the line of duty. QED, the taxpayer is not on the hook for lifetime care.

    Shame, nevertheless, but Darwin rules.

Suicide… Witness says it was an accident so the insurance still pays.

  18. chris Says:

Not that the witness is lying… But that she does not know what he was thinking/planning.

Very sad, completely avoidable, and more ammunition for gun haters to point out that if a SEAL can’t handle weapons why do we want the general public to have them.

  22. Critter Says:

it’s not often you see all 3 rules of gun safety violated at the same time….
