Governor Chris Christie on Guns

Pretty much like any New Jersey politician:

Governor Christie opposes a push in Congress that would effectively override New Jersey’s strict laws against concealed handguns, even though the state’s entire Republican delegation in the House voted for it this month.

Not a fan of HR822 and it gets a little worse:

I believe that each state should have the right to make firearms laws as they see fit

One, states don’t have rights. And two, would you like states to also infringe on other rights protected by the bill of rights?

And, because he has style, so many conservatives wanted the man to run for President.

If they could…they would. Every freakin’ day.

What happened to “render full faith and credit”?

Like Uncle says, states don’t have rights.
9 million people in that God forsaken state and 1600 carry permits, almost all to armored car guards. NJ apparently doesn’t give a damn about their citizens personal safety as much as it cares about their money.
I suspect that if 822 becomes law, states like NJ will simply change their law to one similar to Illinois that bans any form of carry for its “citizens”.

I’ll be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, just as long as he extends the states the same latitude in crafting their abortion laws. Otherwise, he’s just a northeastern anti-gun hack.

  6. Sebastian The Blogless Says:

Wouldn’t put it past them. The armored car guards would all quit and robberies would go through the roof. I love it.

Get the rights/powers issue correct or you should not be in government service.

Government in the US has delegated, limited powers.
    Citizens have individual rights.

As cargosquid says, every freaking day.

Northeast Republican pols are only marginally better than northeast Dem pols.

They would like to repeal the 1st amendment for those they disagree with, they’re already ignoring the 5th amendment and more.

The Constitution gets in the way of them ruling the “smart” way and we hicks should just accept that they know better.

  9. Timmeehh Says:

If 2nd amendment rights can be decided on a state by state basis, how about the 13th ?

  10. ATLien Says:

As an elected official, if the people in your state want gun rights back, they get them. It doesn’t matter WTF you feel, douchebag governor.

  11. Josh Says:

Oops, he just lost my vote if he ever runs for President. Thought he was a pretty swell guy up until this burst of diarrhea from his mouth.

  12. Chas Says:

Christie bad mouthing gun rights may go over well with the lefties, but what if he had said, “I believe that each state should have the right to make civil rights laws as they see fit, particularly with regard to race, voting rights, free speech, immigration, education and abortion.”
All of a sudden, our federal rights would be of the utmost importance, and the leftistas would be hopping up and down and howling their heads off about the absolute sanctity of federally protected rights. The left functions a bunch of evil, commie wannabe, scam artists, and Christie is willing to go along with them. Fatso may be light on his feet, but he’s not a great strategic thinker, which is why he’s locked himself out of the running for the presidency. He’s too New Jersey to function as an American, and that says a lot about the current state of New Jersey, where ordinary BB guns are classified as assault weapons.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
