Anyone can buy them, without a background check or waiting period or proving they’re playing a baseball game. Or you could just grab one off the shelf and beat someone to death.

I was at a sporting goods store recently that had all their bats locked up. I can’t remember where it was, but I remember thinking, “Yeah, but what about the golf clubs and the free weights, ninnies?”

IIRC, it’s against the law here in WA to have a baseball bat in your car and no other baseball gear.
