Understanding
If you think that your opponent in the debate can understand or capable of rational thought, by all means I think it’s a great idea to engage them. However, when their core assumptions are wrong and they are beyond reason, then ridicule, scorn and shame may work. But I generally just ignore these blathering idiots.

Unfortunately the blathering idiots include a majority of congress (including many– perhaps a majority– with an “R” beside their name), everybody with an office in the White House, and most government apparatchik– er, bureaucrats.
