Training

I was going to comment on the training video that’s running around the blogs with an appropriate level of derision and mockery. But others already have:

If I had to guess what type of training my local police got, I would guess that video was EXACTLY right.

  2. MJM Says:

I’m just delighted that the need for more training has become firmly affixed among shooters, as opposed to years past in which “No training,” was the norm. It’s a good problem that we have a plethora of pistoleros palavering for profits–and to be prophets. And, I think asking trusted friends and checking the forums gives you a lot of information about the best trainers to school under.
So, we can laugh, and debate endlessly, accept, reject, and chuckle at the hyperbole used to describe the course, but I’m thankful shooters want training, and that quality trainers have responded.

  3. MJM Says:

Watched the video. Gotta say, that is a bit over the top. Still laughing. Definitely got the “cool factor,” though. I cringed. Don’t know they avoided killing one of the actors during all of that choreography.

  4. Sebastiano Wino Says:

It’s nice that shooters want trained, but that video is liking asking your MMA instructor to train you to do a kimura or flying knee before you even know how to make a fist.

If you’re gripping the pistol with the cup and saucer grip and shooting Weaver at the same time, you’re NOT ready to start doing exotic shooting drills, most of which appear to violate basic gun safety rules.

“Big Boy Rules” idiots sooner or later are going to get someone killed.

  5. BobG Says:

I wonder who wrote the script, gecko45?

  6. mike w. Says:

Bob – I’m sure Gecko45 is involved somehow. I kept waiting for the inevitable GSW. That was scary!

I think we’ve discovered a new type of dance troop.

    “Gundance”.

I’d pay to see ’em. Sort of like any other death-defying stunt, like tightrope walking, juggling chainsaws, et al, but with guns. What’s not to like?

I won’t tell you some of the things I’ve done. I didn’t record them though, see, so you can’t prove a thing.

  8. comatus Says:

Lyle, just drop by Marine Barracks DC any day at drill time, and you’ll see ballet done right. But shhh…be vewy vewy quiet.

  9. fefewfewfew Says:

    agreed with comatus
