Romney gets one right

Telling some simpleton that corporate money goes to people.

But then:

AUDIENCE MEMBER: You came here to listen to the people!

ROMNEY: Nope, I came here to speak.

Way to be a man of the people.

  1. Rob Says:

_None_ of them came to “listen to the people”. That’s not what this dog and pony show is for, and anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t understand how the caucus process works.

  2. Papa Foxtrot Says:

Rembering Reagan’s “Oh, shut up!” line to a heckler – Romney’s response doesn’t bother me at all…

I’m not looking for a President that will “listen to the people”. I want one that understands the fiscal crisis that this country faces and has the stones to do what it takes to fix it. Those actions will leave most of the population unhappy at best.

  3. Captain Holly Says:

After having watched the video this morning with that screeching old Libtard activist who wouldn’t let Romney get a word in edgewise, I think Romney was spot-on.

  4. Bubblehead Les Says:

Heard that the Obama Admin and the People’s Democratic Party is going to use Fake Republicans to shout down the Republitards Candidates all Campaign Season. Remember the Antis in Pittsburgh yelling “We Want to Talk”? Same Principle. So expect more of the same, especially since Perry just tossed his hat into the ring.

  5. mikee Says:

I remember Hillary’s New York “Listening Tour,” where her listening consisted of a speech delivered to generous applause at each stop, with perhaps a few pre-arranged, moderated questions for real excitement.

I remember Reagan’s statement at a Republican primary debate, to the effect that he’d paid for the microphone and would use it as he saw fit.

Romney has a problem, and it is not hecklers planted by the Democrats. Romney is a RINO with the anchor of Romneycare hanging around his neck. No matter how much or how often the press tells us that he is the best candidate for the Republicans, I think we know better.

  6. ATLien Says:

Fuck the people. There are too many dumb ass people to be listening to them.

  7. Rivrdog Says:

I know how Perry can keep the (D)onk spies out of his crowds. From the first day, whenever he is interrupted by one, use his mike to tell the crowd to move away from that person, thereby throwing the spotlight on the plant. At the same time, move in cameras to get full-face views.

We did this in the TEA party with the tax day counter-protests, and it worked well.

  8. Sigivald Says:

I agree with them comments up there.

Romney wasn’t there to listen to the people – he was there to tell the people about himself, so they could decide if they like his policies and his character and all that.

He’s got all the time in the world to “listen to the people”, and he doesn’t need to be physically in front of them to do it, thanks to “the internet”.

(And that’s even assuming that “the people” talking are just ordinary folks expressing concerns, rather than (apropos of Cpt. Holly’s comment) someone on The Other Side screeching on about how Romney’s Side is BAD.

I don’t care for Romney, but I agree that telling people like that – politely – to shove off is not only not bad, but correct.)

  9. Alan Kellogg Says:

I’m reminded of the words of Ronald Reagan, “I paid for this microphone.”

  10. AJ187 Says:

The only one that is listening the American people is Ron Paul it seems.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
